A task force of the Environmental Quality & Public Works committee was appointed to determine the feasibility of a waste digester in Lexington.
Purpose
More vigorously review the consultant's report presented in the fall of 2023 and understand the financial, operational, and environmental impact of proposed solutions to determine if there is a solution investment that aligns with the Goals & Objectives of the 2045 Comprehensive Plan for which the city should plan and prioritize.
Scope of Work
- Read and review the consultant's report from Fall 2023.
- Review current operational process, financials, and environmental impact with staff.
- Review best practice case studies for this type of solution.
- Site visits and/or discussions with at least one of each type of feasible solution.
- Review LFUCG operational/financial/environmental changes of feasible solution(s).
- Create a report/presentation with a recommended action plan.
Task Force Expectations
Provide periodic updates to the Environmental Quality & Public Works committee and present a recommended action to the committee and/or council.
